The US president-elect, Donald Trump, has said that the cost of deporting illegal immigrants will not be an obstacle to keeping the promise of the "biggest deportation ever".

In his first public appearance since his Nov. 5 victory, Trump said his priority once he takes office in January will be to make the borders "stronger."

"It is not a matter of price. It is not. We have no other option", said Trump for "NBC News". "When people killed, drug dealers destroyed countries and now they will return to those countries because they will not stay here anymore, there is no price for that".

Trump has credited his victory also because of his promise to deport immigrants.

"People want to have borders. And they like to have people come, but they have to come with love for the state. They must come legally," Trump said.

While Trump's campaign team gave different answers about the deportation numbers, Vice President-elect JD Vance said they would start with one million.

Experts have consistently assessed that there will be legal and practical challenges to deporting many people at once.
