US President Donald Trump has made his first public comments on the minerals deal with Ukraine, which was signed on Wednesday.
Speaking to News Nation, he said the deal represents a return on the money the US has spent on the war in Ukraine so far.
"Biden gave them $350 billion. We made a deal where we theoretically get a lot more than $350 billion," Trump declared.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the US has spent around $350 billion on Ukraine in its war against Russia, but a BBC Verify analysis has revealed that the actual amount is much lower.
Host Bill O'Reilly asked the president what he talked about when he sat with Zelensky at Pope Francis' funeral last week.
"I was telling him that it would be a very good thing if we could make a deal and you could sign it," Trump said.
