Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support ContributeIn an interview with CNN, Trump said that developments around Cuba are not directly related to the current situation in Iran, but according to him, changes in this country are inevitable.
"Cuba is going to fall very quickly, by the way, it has nothing to do with this (Iran), but Cuba is going to fall. They want to make a deal so badly," Trump said, also praising US military actions during his second presidential term.
He claimed that Havana wants an agreement with Washington, which is why he has warned that he will send US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to Cuba.
"We'll see how it ends, but right now we're focused on Iran. We have plenty of time, but Cuba is ready, after 50 years. I've been following this for 50 years and it fell into my hands because of me, and we're doing very well," Trump added.
A day earlier, he stated that it is only a matter of time before Cuban-Americans can return to their homeland, hinting that Cuba could be among his administration's next priorities.
Trump added that Rubio is doing a very good job and that his next task will be to "fix our special Cuba."
