Trump calls European leaders "great" ahead of virtual summit

US President Donald Trump has praised European leaders ahead of a virtual meeting with them on Wednesday, which will take place in conjunction with the Trump-Putin summit on Friday in Alaska.

In a post on "Truth Social" a few hours before the meeting, Trump said that European leaders want to see an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

"Will be speaking with European leaders shortly. They are great people who want to see a deal made," Trump wrote.

The BBC reports that the leaders of the EU and NATO countries, along with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will initially hold a virtual meeting at 14:00 Kosovo time, and then they will be joined by US President, Donald Trump, and Vice President, JD Vance, at around 15:00 Kosovo time.

Meanwhile, at around 16:00 PM, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who called the meeting, and Ukrainian President Zelensky are expected to hold a press conference.

Zelensky arrived in Berlin on Wednesday at noon, where he was welcomed by Merz.
