A powerful 6.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Balikesir, Turkey, on Monday night, Hurriyet reports.
The earthquake was followed by several aftershocks measuring 4.2, 3.5, 4 and 3.9 on the Richter scale.
Turkey's Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, said no casualties had been reported.
He said there are collapsed buildings.
"There are two collapsed buildings. A two-story collapsed shop. These were empty buildings. They were damaged by previous earthquakes and therefore they were evacuated... There are no collapsed areas in the villages. There are no negative effects on life. Based on our research conducted so far, we can say that there are no casualties," Yerlikaya said.
