At least two dead in fires in Los Angeles

At least two people have died and dozens more have been injured as a result of the fires that gripped the city of Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the firefighters are continuing to "fight" to put out several fires in the city, the authorities have announced, the BBC reports. 

Los Angeles Fire Chief Kathryn Barger urged residents to "listen to the advice of first responders."

Officials say one of the four fires that are active, called the Palisades, has burned more than 1,000 properties, while another, called the Eaton fire, has burned another 100.

Meanwhile, the fifth fire, which is smaller, has been brought under control.

It is reported that hundreds of schools have been closed as a result of the fires, while hundreds and thousands of people have been left without electricity.
