Sweden will implement a national ban on mobile phones in all schools, in an effort to improve safety and learning conditions for students.
From the next school year, starting in the fall of 2026, it will be mandatory for all schools and after-school clubs to collect students' phones and keep them until the end of the day.
The new rule, which will affect children between the ages of seven and 16, is part of a package of proposed measures announced by the government on Tuesday, The Guardian reports.
In addition to banning phones, the proposed changes will cover the curriculum, grading system and teacher training.

Most schools in Sweden take away students' mobile phones at the start of the school day, but students have found ways to circumvent the ban, such as handing in a fake phone or saying they forgot their phone or that it's broken.
