Storms and tornadoes hit several countries, a woman lost her life

Thousands of homes and businesses were left without power Tuesday in major cities across the United States as a result of severe weather.

Parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Georgia were hit by tornadoes Tuesday evening.

As a result of heavy rain storms and a tornado in northeastern Oklahoma, a 46-year-old woman has lost her life, the Associated Press reports.

In West Virginia, about 140 residents were left without electricity.

Many roads were blocked, as the strong winds caused trees to be uprooted and fell on the roads and in some cases on top of cars.

A number of homes were damaged in Ravenwood, Missouri.
