Strong storm in Slovenia

storm

A severe storm that hit Italy reached Slovenia on Wednesday. Heavy rain, strong winds, hail and lightning have spread across the country, while the Slovenian Environment Agency has issued a medium risk warning.

A stronger storm line developed over the Italian provinces in the afternoon, heading towards Slovenia later. Slovenian authorities have warned that hail could damage agricultural areas and crops, while heavy rainfall could cause a sudden rise in flash flood levels and local flooding.

The Environment Agency has also warned of the risk of lightning.

"During a storm, it is necessary to take shelter in a safe building or vehicle and not stay outside under trees, power lines or near streams of water."

The storm is also expected to hit Croatia. The Croatian State Hydrometeorological Institute announced that a significant change in the weather is expected overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. Storms, hail and strong winds are possible, especially in central and eastern Croatia.
