Starmer: Putin will sit at the negotiating table sooner or later

Ahead of a virtual meeting with 25 world leaders, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will "sit down at the negotiating table" sooner or later. 

The British Prime Minister has told leaders that they must prepare to defend the peace deal in Ukraine, while also calling for pressure on Russia to be increased.

"If Putin is serious about peace, it's very simple, he must stop the barbaric attacks in Ukraine and accept a ceasefire," Starmer declared to the leaders of European countries, as well as leaders from Australia, Canada and New Zealand. 

"We must continue to push forward, move forward and prepare peace, a peace that will be secure and that will last," he added.
