The decision on whether to cancel the sentence against Trump for "hush money" is postponed

The judge in the criminal case against Donald Trump in Manhattan, New York has postponed making a decision on whether to cancel the sentence of the newly elected president, due to presidential immunity.

Judge Juan Merchan told Trump's lawyers on Tuesday that he would postpone the pwr decision until November 19, The Guardian reports.

The adjournment followed numerous successful attempts to delay his case. Earlier this year, he was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in a scheme to influence the 2016 election.

The verdict came on May 31, after less than 12 hours of jury deliberations in the unprecedented first criminal trial of a US president. The result marked a blow to Trump, then the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Trump's criminal case portrayed a man who seemed unfit for the presidency. Prosecutors said Trump falsely recorded reimbursements he made to then-lawyer Michael Cohen for a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels for her silence about an affair she alleged she had with Trump. .

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office has said the falsifications were made to cover up Trump's violation of New York state election law.

Trump was scheduled to be sentenced on July 10. But the decision was postponed until November.
