White House warns homeless people in Washington of fines and imprisonment

The White House says homeless people in Washington, the reason President Donald Trump decided to send the National Guard there, will face fines or imprisonment if they do not leave their encampments.

Speaking about what will happen to the homeless population in Washington, D.C., White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt cited city codes that would give individuals "the opportunity to leave their encampment, to be sent to a homeless shelter, where they are provided with addiction or mental health services."

If they refuse, Leavitt says, they will be fined or imprisoned.

The National Guard arrived in the American capital on Tuesday, with Trump's decision to fight, as he says, crime.
