US President Joe Biden will host President-elect Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday, the White House announced on Saturday.
Such a meeting is common between the outgoing president and the incoming president and is intended in part to mark the beginning of a peaceful transfer of power in American democracy.
Republican Trump did not welcome Democrat Biden after winning the 2020 presidential election.
Former President Trump ran again in this year's election and defeated Vice President Kamala Harris.
Like President Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s, Trump will serve two separate terms as the 45th and 47th president of the United States.
The White House announced that Biden called Trump last Wednesday to congratulate him and invite him to meet in the Oval Office.
In a speech he gave on Thursday, Biden said he had assured Trump of an orderly transition of power.
Their meeting is scheduled for 11:00.
