Kilauea, Hawaii's second-largest volcano, began erupting Wednesday after a three-month hiatus.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said a flare was detected in images taken from the volcano this morning, indicating the eruption had started from within.
The images showed cracks at the base of the crater that were generating lava flows to the surface.
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and its 2018 eruption destroyed more than 700 homes, AP reported.
Before the big eruption in 2018, Kilauea had been erupting since 1983, and lava often covered houses and farms. During that time, the lava sometimes reached the ocean causing dramatic interaction with the water.
