The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has said that the warring parties in Sudan have agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire, starting at midnight, the BBC reports.
It is the third ceasefire announced since violence erupted in Sudan this month, but in past cases the parties have not adhered to the ceasefire.
Blinken said the agreement with the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries came after 48 hours of negotiations.
At least 400 people are known to have died since the outbreak of violence.
"We reaffirm our commitment to a complete ceasefire during this period," the RSF statement said.
Sudan's military has not commented publicly.
