The death toll from the powerful earthquake that hit the Aegean Sea between the Turkish coast and the Greek island of Samos a few days ago has reached 95, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).
According to AFAD, after the earthquake, about 1.323 tremors were recorded in the area, 43 of which were stronger than 4 degrees.
AFAD also announces that 994 people were injured by the earthquake, 847 of whom were released from the hospital after treatment, while 147 continue to be treated. Speaking at a press conference in Izmir, the Minister of Environment and Urbanism, Murat Kurum, announced that the number of severely damaged and destroyed buildings is 58, top channel writes.
For earthquake victims facing cold weather, Kurum urged them to seek shelter from their relatives. "We started the process of creating a container city. We will create a container city with a capacity to accommodate 1 people on an area of 46.300 square meters in Bayraklı district," added Kurum.
