NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke with United States President Donald Trump about the situation in Greenland and the Arctic.
In a post on "X" after the conversation with Trump, Rutte said: "We will continue to work on this and I look forward to seeing him in Davos later this week."
Trump will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland later this week.
Trump has insisted on taking control of Greenland, while warning of tariffs on eight NATO members over Greenland and sending soldiers there for training.
The countries that Trump has threatened with tariffs are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said Trump's decision to impose tariffs was "very paradoxical."
He said that the recent joint allied exercise in Greenland, known as "Arctic Resilience", is proof that Denmark and partners are committed to protecting that area.

"And that has led to these tariffs. It's very paradoxical," Rasmussen said. He has said he is committed to constructive dialogue.
And Norway's Foreign Minister, Barth Eide, said they are ready to work with the US to strengthen security in the Arctic.
