The United States Central Command announced in a post on social media that the US military is carrying out attacks on "multiple targets in Iran" and that these actions are being carried out "in response to Iran's unprovoked and continued aggression."
Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, Sirik and Minab, in the south of the country.
The attacks come just a day after the United States struck Iran after it shot down a military helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, which US President Donald Trump blamed on Tehran.
