US strikes nuclear facility in Iran, Tehran attacks oil tanker off Dubai coast

A possible US attack hit the central Iranian city of Isfahan early Tuesday with airstrikes, while Tehran hit a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.

The attacks underscore the intensity of a month-long war that the United States and Israel have waged against Iran, which has maintained its control over the Strait of Hormuz, closing this vital waterway for global energy transport, which has caused oil prices to rise sharply and roiled world markets, AP writes.

US President Donald Trump, who has insisted there is progress in diplomatic talks  towards a ceasefire, released a video of the attack in Isfahan, where fiery explosions lit up the sky. Isfahan is the location of one of three facilities previously struck by the US military in June and is believed to house some of Iran's highly enriched uranium.

Meanwhile, Israel announced that four more soldiers had been killed in its invasion of Lebanon, as well as two more United Nations peacekeepers, prompting the UN Security Council to schedule an emergency session later on Tuesday.
