Russia warns Britain over supplying Ukraine with drones

Russia

Russia has accused the United Kingdom of "deliberately choosing to escalate the crisis in Ukraine" after it was confirmed that British-made drones were used in attacks on targets in Russia.

"By acting in this way, the United Kingdom is behaving as an accomplice and co-author of bloody crimes and terrorist attacks," the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom wrote in a statement.

"London's actions will inevitably have consequences for which it will be held accountable," the statement said. It added that the deeper Britain's involvement in the conflict, 'the higher the price it will pay'.

In response, a spokesman for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) told the BBC that Britain stood "shoulder to shoulder" with Ukraine.

"Russia should have no doubt about this government's determination to counter Russian aggression, both in Ukraine and against the UK and our allies," the spokesman said in a statement. "Britain was committed to providing Ukraine with the equipment it needs to defend itself against Russian President Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion."

The drones in question, manufactured by two different British companies, have been used inside Russian territory in numerous and successful attacks on military and industrial targets, including refineries and warehouses of the online sales company Wildberries.

Ukraine has repeatedly hit the company, known as the Russian version of Amazon, and says seven of Wildberries' ten largest logistics centers have been "put out of operation."
