Russia and Ukraine exchange prisoners

Russia has returned 76 Ukrainians in exchange for some prisoners of war, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk announced.

It has announced that Russia has returned 60 soldiers, including 10 Ukrainian officers and 16 civilians, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

She added that it is the fifth time that the countries have exchanged prisoners of war.

The first exchange of soldiers between the two countries took place on March 25, a month after the beginning of the Russian occupation of Ukraine.

In this first exchange, 10 Ukrainian and 10 Russian soldiers were released. In addition to them, 11 Russian civilians were released in exchange for 19 crew members of the Ukrainian civilian ship held by Russian forces.
