A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey's Balikesir region on Sunday night, while Turkish authorities announced that the quake was followed by nearly 250 aftershocks, 10 of which were stronger than 4 on the Richter scale.
CNN Turk reported that 16 buildings were destroyed in Balikesir, while a number of residents were forced to sleep outside.
One death and 29 injuries were reported.
