Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended Nowruz greetings to Iranian leaders, saying Moscow remains Tehran's loyal friend and reliable partner. But Iranian sources said Moscow's assistance has been limited during Iran's biggest crisis since the 1979 revolution, Reuters reported.

Putin sent greetings to Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the occasion of the Iranian New Year.

In his message, Putin wished the Iranian people to face the difficulties with dignity.

He stressed that in this difficult time, Russia will remain a strong ally of Iran.

On the other hand, officials in Russia stated that the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran have increased tensions in the Middle East and caused a global energy crisis.

Putin also condemned the assassination of the Iranian Supreme Leader, calling it a "cynical" act.
