Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he is ready to return to negotiations on Ukraine, adding that this is a priority for Russia.
The Interfax and Tass agencies quoted Putin as praising the US-Russia talks that began on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, stating that their aim was to increase trust between the two countries, The Guardian reports.
Putin also said that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, told him during the phone call that Ukraine would also be part of the talks.
The Russian president has expressed his willingness to meet with Trump, but said this requires preparation.
