Authorities in Hong Kong have detained and searched protesters who gathered in Saturday's march calling urgently for autonomy in the city that was liberated from the British colony in 1997.
A crowd of about 3 people in black masks, carrying British and colonial flags, flooded the streets of Hong Kong. Pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong has called for 100,000 people to take part in the 22nd week of protests.
Protesters have been protesting for five months, expressing dissatisfaction with Hong Kong's political and legal system.
Activists had hit police forces with gas canisters, as well as damaged government buildings and many businesses.
On several occasions, the protests have turned into violence, which began as a sign of dissatisfaction with a bill to extradite suspects to China.

The bill in question has been suspended, but the protesters' demands have since expanded, calling for direct elections and greater police accountability.
