The signing of the Protocol that makes North Macedonia the 30th member of NATO is expected

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that he expects the allies to sign the Accession Protocol for Macedonia, after the country agreed to change its name after a decades-long dispute with Greece.

The head of NATO made these comments during the joint press conference with the Romanian president, Klaus Iohannis, after their meeting held in Bucharest.

"I expect that soon all 29 allies will sign the Accession Protocol. Then Skopje will be part of the meetings as a guest. "Once all 29 allies ratify the Protocol, we will be able to welcome the Republic of North Macedonia as the 30th member of NATO", declared Stoltenberg.

When Macedonia becomes a member of NATO, Stoltenberg said, "the country will contribute to peace and stability in the region and in Europe".
