Colombian President Gustavo Petro has said he believes there is a "real threat" of US military action against Colombia.
Petro told the BBC that the US is treating other countries as part of its "empire". His comments come after President Donald Trump threatened Colombia with military action. He said the US risks transforming from "world dominance" to "isolation from the world".
Following the attacks on Venezuela and the capture of Nicolas Maduro, Trump has said that a military operation targeting Colombia "looks good," adding that Petro should be careful.
Trump and Petro spoke by phone on Wednesday, after Trump said he would meet with the Colombian side at the White House in the near future.
