Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has defended negotiations between Tehran and Washington in his latest statement published by Iranian media.
"Protecting national interests and preserving the country's authority in the framework of negotiations is not an approach limited only to the Government, but on the contrary, all elements of the establishment have a common vision and goal for this," Pezeshkian said, according to the BBC.
Pezeshkian said that approval by the Supreme National Security Council is the criterion, adding that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has the final say regarding negotiations.
The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, has warned of a response after Israel's attack south of Beirut.
He said that Lebanon is Iran's "lifeblood" and that "violating the Islamic Republic's red lines will not be tolerated."
