Five dead from the collision of two military helicopters in Turkey

At least five people were killed on Monday in Turkey, from the mid-air collision of two Turkish military helicopters.

The authorities announced that one of the helicopters crashed as a result of the collision, while the other managed to land safely, AP reports.

One person escaped with injuries and is being treated at a hospital, Governor Abdullah Erin was quoted as saying.

The crash happened in the southwestern province of Isparta, during regular training flights, according to the governor.

Among the victims is a brigadier general who was in charge of the aviation school.

It was not immediately known what caused the two helicopters to come into contact. Erin has confirmed that the investigation has begun.
