The Parliament of Spain has given the green light to Montenegro on the road to NATO membership.
As the government of Montenegro announces, the process of ratification of the protocol for membership has started in the member countries of the Alliance as early as June 2012. Iceland was the first country to ratify the protocol, on June 8 of last year, precisely 10 years after the same country recognized the independence of Montenegro.
The ratification of the North Atlantic Treaty was unanimously approved by the assembly of Montenegro on April 28 of this year.
