The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, has said that there are questions that need to be answered, after the volcanic eruption on White Island.
Five people have died and eight are missing on the island, although police say they are also believed to be dead. About 47 people from all over the world were on the island during the explosion, reports KTV. "We know there will be bigger questions about this event," Ardern told Parliament.
Three weeks ago, the threat level on the volcano was raised.
Since the explosion, experts have been debating whether tour operators knew there was a potential for disaster or whether they had provided tourists with enough security.
