The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) announced on Friday that it has documented at least 798 deaths both at aid distribution points managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund and near humanitarian convoys run by other aid groups.
The Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) uses private security and logistics companies from the United States to send supplies to Gaza, bypassing the UN-led system that Israeli officials say has allowed Hamas militants to divert aid, Reuters reported.
The United Nations has described the plan as "unsafe" and has found violations of humanitarian principles.
"As of July 7, we have recorded 798 casualties, including 615 near Gaza Humanitarian Foundation points, and 183 suspected to be on the route of aid convoys," OHCHR spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told reporters in Geneva.
The FHG began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May, while it has consistently denied that any incidents have occurred near its points.
