Europe remained the only region in the world to report an increase in cases of infections and deaths in recent weeks, with a two-fold increase in percentages, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Wednesday.
According to the WHO, in 53 countries of the European region, there was an 18% increase in cases of infections in the last week, which also marks the fourth week with a continuous increase in this area.
In the WHO's weekly epidemiological report on COVID-19, Europe has recorded an increase of 14% in terms of deaths due to the coronavirus. According to the report, more than 1,6 million new cases of infection and over 21,000 new cases of death as a result of the virus have been recorded in this region.
Meanwhile, the WHO report states that the US has seen a 12% drop in new cases in the last seven days, with 513 in the last seven days alone. Meanwhile, the number of deaths in this region has not changed, with 11,600 dead in the last seven days alone.
