The widow of late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of hiding the truth about his death in an Arctic penal colony.
Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnya, accused Putin on Sunday of trying to cover up the true causes of his death and of erasing the memory of her late husband, in a video released on the anniversary of his death, AP reports.
Russian authorities have said that Navalny, who died on February 16, 2024, died of natural causes, a sudden increase in blood pressure, and chronic illness.
His family and allies dispute this and insist he was killed on the orders of the Kremlin, accusations his officials deny.
Tens of thousands of people attended his funeral in Moscow on March 1, in a rare show of defiance in a country where any street gathering or even a single protest often results in immediate arrest.
In a video address, Navalnaya thanked Russians for supporting her and paying their respects at Navalny's grave in Moscow.

Ambassadors from the US and UK laid flowers at Navalny's grave at a Moscow cemetery early Sunday along with Russians who came to pay their respects to the late opposition leader.
Hundreds of criminal cases have been opened in recent years for the use of symbols associated with Navalny, according to the independent Russian news newspaper Verstka.
