Doubts are raised about a new variant of Covid-19 in England

A new variant of the coronavirus is suspected to have been identified recently. It can spread more rapidly.

This was stated by the Secretary of Health, Matt Hancock, before various local authorities in England, which have registered infections with Covid-19, caused by this variant.

He has informed that the World Health Organization was notified and Porton Doën, a scientific campus, which is doing detailed studies.

"We have currently registered over 1 cases with this variant, mainly in the south of England, although cases have been registered in almost 60 different areas. We cannot know that this is caused by this variant, but we must take quick and decisive action", Hancock stated, BBC writes.

He further added that he is still not convinced if anti-Covid vaccines can work against this variant of the coronavirus.
