After 21 months of war, hopes are rising for a new ceasefire announcement in Gaza as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with US President Donald Trump on Monday in Washington.
Trump previously told reporters that he was "very determined" with Netanyahu to end the conflict and that he thought "we'll have a deal" this week.
"We are working to reach the agreement that was discussed, according to the terms that we agreed upon," the veteran Israeli prime minister said before boarding his plane.
"I believe that the conversation with President Trump can definitely help advance this outcome, which we all hope for," he added.
Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas over a US-sponsored proposal for a 60-day ceasefire and a hostage release deal resumed in Qatar on Sunday evening.
Despite this, it is still unclear whether the key differences that have repeatedly prevented an agreement can be overcome.
But optimism is being expressed by weary Palestinians living in difficult conditions amid constant daily Israeli bombardments and the worried families of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas.

"I don't want a ceasefire, but a complete cessation of all fighting. Honestly, I'm afraid that after 60 days the fighting will resume," said Nabil Abu Dayah, who fled Beit Lahia in northern Gaza to Gaza City with his children and grandchildren.
"We got so tired of being displaced, we got so tired of thirst and hunger, of living in tents. When it comes to the necessities of life, we have none," he added.
Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, large rallies were held in Tel Aviv demanding the government
Israel to sign an agreement to return about 50 hostages from Gaza, up to 20 of whom are believed to be alive.
