Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that one of the pilots of a plane traveling from Dubai to Israel had stabbed the other pilot and also tried to crash the plane.
In a statement released hours after the incident, Netanyahu said the attack pilot had been arrested and was being questioned by Saudi authorities.
"One of the pilots stabbed the other pilot and, apparently, tried to bring down the plane with its passengers. I spoke to one of the Israeli passengers, who told me that the plane had started to spin and began to lose altitude. I salute these heroes, who showed extraordinary intelligence and courage. All passengers are out of danger. The attacking pilot was arrested and is currently being questioned by Saudi authorities," Netanyahu said.
Israeli media reported during the day that the pilot who attempted to shoot down the plane was from Oman.
