Moscow says only 500 Russians were killed, Ukraine says close to 6,000

The Ministry of Defense of Russia has given the first figures for the victims suffered during the invasion of Ukraine, reports bbc.

According to Russian media reports, 498 Russian soldiers have been killed and 1,597 wounded so far.

The claim is significantly lower than Ukraine's estimate of Russian casualties - Kiev claims to have killed 5,840 Russian troops.

Kiev has not provided figures for the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded.

The UK Ministry of Defense believes that Moscow's forces have suffered heavy losses.
