Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is not against Ukraine joining the European Union, as it does not see it as a threat to Russia's security. However, he said that the situation is completely different when it comes to Ukraine joining a military alliance.
"It is the sovereign right of every state. We are talking about integration and economic processes and of course no one can dictate what a state can do. We will not do that. But our position on issues related to security, defense or military alliances is completely different. There is another issue and it is known to everyone," he said.
He said he had no information about a possible Trump-Putin meeting, but added that today's talks could provide more clarity.
