Thousands of residents are being evacuated from their homes due to the large fire that continues to engulf the north of Athens. The place where the Marathon is held is among the areas where residents are being relocated by emergency services.

Forty fires have broken out in Greece since Saturday afternoon. The fire brigade worked throughout the night, but despite their efforts, the fire spread rapidly.
More than 500 firefighters and 150 vehicles have been deployed to help put out the flames.
The Greek Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has warned that the dangerous weather will continue.
In Varnavas, the fire that started on Sunday afternoon has burned about 100 square kilometers of land.
