More than 50,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of the war, the Hamas-ruled territory's Health Ministry announced on Sunday.
A total of 113,274 others were injured in the same period, according to the ministry, the BBC reports.
In the past, figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health (MOH) were widely used during times of conflict and were seen as reliable by the UN and international institutions. But Israel has consistently rejected the data published by Gaza authorities.
The figures published by the Ministry of Health for the number of deaths do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
The war was triggered by Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which about 1200 people, mostly civilians, were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.
Israel responded to the October 7 attack with a massive military offensive, which has caused the destruction of homes and infrastructure, in addition to 50,000 deaths.
