The European Union has helped evacuate about 400 of its citizens from Israel via Jordan and Egypt, as part of efforts to coordinate the emergency response to the conflict within the bloc's 27 member states, the AP reports.
"So far, we have an estimate that over 400 EU citizens have been repatriated through this EU civil protection mechanism," Eva Hrncirova said in Brussels on Wednesday.
She has stated that the EU is considering requests from Slovakia, Lithuania, Greece and Poland for assistance in evacuating from the Middle East.
"Member states coordinate the list and we co-finance these flights up to 75 percent of the transport costs," she added.
