The earthquake struck near Mazar-e-Sharif, one of the largest cities in Afghanistan, with a population of about 500. The quake struck in the early hours of Monday, around 1:00 a.m. local time.
It struck at a depth of 28 kilometers.
The spokesman for the Taliban government's Ministry of Health, Sharafat Zaman Amar, said that 20 people were killed and over 320 were injured.
