Over 20 dead and hundreds injured in anti-government protests in Bangladesh

More than 20 people have died and hundreds more have been injured in a new wave of violence in Bangladesh, while anti-government protesters have clashed with police and activists of the ruling party, the "AP" agency reports. 

The protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At least 11 people have been arrested in recent weeks. Protesters called for non-cooperation, prompting people not to pay taxes and bills and not to go to work on Sunday, which is a working day in Bangladesh. Protesters attacked the Faculty of Medicine in Dhaka. Police fired tear gas to disperse crowds blocking major highways. According to witnesses, bombs and gunshots were heard.
