Over 100 people attacked with syringes at French festival

Around 150 people were attacked with syringes during a music festival in France, the Interior Ministry said, adding that authorities had arrested at least 12 people.

Across France, millions of people took to the streets over the weekend for the festival. In Paris, authorities reported that there were four times as many people outside as usual.

The stabbing attacks involved 145 victims, including 13 in Paris, NBC reported.

French officials did not say whether there were any cases of attacks where attackers typically inject victims with drugs to disorient them and then target them for rape.

This year's festival was planned amid fears of such attacks after a spate of reports in 2022. At the time, the government had urged people to be vigilant. More than 370 people were arrested that year on various charges.
