The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has asked G7 leaders to commit to "concrete actions" to address global challenges, adding that this year's summit in England "must be a summit of action".
"We have the responsibility to offer clear goals and make concrete commitments to face the challenges of our time," Macron said on his Twitter account, after the meeting with the G7 leaders.
"I am happy to see you again, dear partners and friends. Let's work, together," added Macron.
On the morning of Friday, Macron shared on Twitter a photo with the European leaders at the opening of the summit, where he wrote "As always, the same unity, the same determination to act, the same enthusiasm."
Meanwhile, the French Embassy in Britain described the summit on Friday as a "historic opportunity" for leaders to address issues facing the world, including recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and vaccine distribution, combating inequality in the world and dealing with the climate crisis.
The next G7 summit is taking place in Great Britain from June 11-13. The issue of vaccines against COVID-19 and the fight against climate change are expected to be the key topics of the summit.
