Cuban leader Miguel Diaz-Canel has rejected Donald Trump's demand that the Caribbean country "make a deal" with Washington if it wants to get oil from Venezuela.
The US president has warned that Havana will cut itself off from Venezuelan oil and money, on which it has relied for decades.
"Nobody dictates to us what to do," Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Sunday in Havana, responding to Trump's insistence that the communist country make a deal "before it's too late."
Cuba has long received large aid packages from oil-rich Venezuela, but the capture of Venezuelan leader NicolAs Maduro during a US operation, as well as Trump's announcement that Venezuela will hand over 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the US, is expected to leave Havana facing a major economic challenge.
"Cuba has lived, for many years, on large amounts of oil and money from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided 'Security Services' to the last two Venezuelan dictators, but no more!" Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.
"There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba - Zero," he said before demanding a deal.

Trump has not clarified what a deal for Havana might include.
The Cuban government has stated that 32 of its citizens were killed "in combat actions" during the US operation to capture Maduro.
