North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un confirmed that he is strengthening his country's nuclear power in response to what he called the "reckless expansion of the military bloc system led by the United States."
Kim made the warning during a speech marking North Korea's national day, North Korean media reported.
He emphasized the need to continuously strengthen and develop his army's warfighting capability.
Kim's comments followed the deployment in Fenian of a new platform believed to be designed to launch more powerful intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Before that, the world's most isolated country resumed the practice of launching balloons carrying garbage in the direction of South Korea.
