Environmentalist and anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has confirmed that he will run for president of the United States as an independent candidate as he withdraws from the race within the Democratic Party.
Kennedy has said that this is how he declared his independence from corporations, the media and the two main parties of the USA.
Kennedy, a member of one of the most famous Democratic families in politics, was more favored by Republicans than Democrats, but it is unclear whether he would receive Republican support if he were to run against Donald Trump.
Allies of President Joe Biden have said that Kennedy's campaign is not serious.
