Quds, December 14 - Israel takes the decision to close the border points with the Gaza Strip, Kerm Abu Salim and Beit Hanu (Erez), reports AA.
In a written statement, the spokesman of the Israeli Army, Avichay Adraee, has announced that from today the Kerm Abu Salim and Erez border crossings will be closed due to recent security developments.
Yesterday it was claimed that a rocket was fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip, which is under siege. Adraee, in a statement to the media regarding the case, stated that there was a rocket attack on Israel from Gaza and that "after that, the Israeli army attacked a military region in Gaza, which belongs to Hamas".
Six of the seven border crossings in Gaza are under Israeli control, except Refah, which is under Egyptian control. Four of these six crossings, which were used for commercial purposes, were closed by Israel after Hamas won the elections and took office in June 2007. Meanwhile, of the other two crossings, Beit Hanun is used for the passage of those with foreign passports, the sick and businessmen in the West Bank. While the Kerm Abu Salim crossing is used for the passage of some commercial products. Kerm Abu Salim and Beit Hanun are often closing for various reasons.
